Goryu47 REPORT

2026.02.17295 cm / Sunny

Frost-covered trees are back! Under a high-pressure system, the HAKUBA VALLEY woke this morning to calm, sunny skies. After riding the Milky Four Lift and then the Goryu Telecabin, the sight of the trees coated in rime ice and fresh snow coming into view (pictured) built up my anticipation. At Alps Daira, 3 to 5 cm of light new snow had settled overnight.

On the Grand Prix Course (pictured), about 3 cm of light new snow sat on top of a well-set groomed moist snow surface, allowing for confident edge grip and clean, controlled turns. Here, “moist snow” doesn’t mean wet — rather, it refers to snow that isn’t quite powder but still offers excellent quality and feel. Along the ungroomed Alps 3rd Pair line and on the Technical Course, 4 to 5 cm of light new snow had accumulated over firm, uneven terrain.

The Panorama Course (pictured) and the upper section of Route 8 (fourth photo) were both groomed into moderately firm snow that felt very close to true powder, and the 3 to 4 cm of fresh snow on top sliced away effortlessly with each turn. Meanwhile, from 2/20 (Fri.) to 2/22 (Sun.), a NOVEMBER demo event will be held in front of Escal Plaza (starting at 9:30 a.m., free to join, ID required).

The Dynamic and Woody Courses were each topped with 1 to 3 cm of new snow, and had a firm, easy-to-ski, groomed moist snow surface. The Toomi Slope, Powder Snow Course, and Soft Cream Course were groomed, but had fine-grained, firmer granular snow. Edge hold remained solid throughout, making it easy to carry speed with confidence.
