On the morning of the final day of the three-day weekend, the slopes were wrapped in thick fog, and contrary to the forecast, light rain was falling. Leo (pictured), Blackbird, and Monkey were saturated with moisture, and featured groomed granular snow that had softened and turned slightly slushy. The surface itself felt easy enough to ski on, but with visibility limited to around 30 meters on every run, most people kept their speed in check.

I met a group from Tokyo (pictured) who told me, “We always check your reports! We’re taking part in the 2026 Trading Company Ski & Snowboard Championships being held yesterday and today.” Even before operations began, the No. 1 lift base was bustling with competitors and event officials, along with visiting families.

The Kurohime Family Park was also full of energy. I spoke with a father from Nagano’s Komagane City, and he told me, “We always read your reports! My daughter loves the animal-shaped sled (pictured) and keeps hiking back up for another run.” The beautifully maintained park had groomed granular snow with high moisture content, but sleds and skis were still running well, making for enjoyable conditions.

At the very top of the resort, Mouse (pictured) had a groomed, moderately firm granular snow surface. In the end, the Trading Company Ski & Snowboard Championships, which had been scheduled to take place on Blackbird, was canceled due to poor visibility. One of the skiers who had planned to compete told me, “It’s disappointing that the competition was called off, but since that’s the case, I’ll just take it easy and enjoy skiing on my own.”
