2026.03.07250 cm / Snowy

The rain that was falling at the base late last night had tapered off and turned to snow around dawn this morning. A skier I rode the Sky Four Lift with told me, “I’m glad the rain turned to snow. Hopefully it keeps coming and we can get some real accumulation.” Light, wet snow was falling early, but it intensified around 7:00 a.m., just as Sunrise skiing began (pictured).

The Toomi Slope (pictured) was freshly groomed and featured firm spring granular snow with 1 to 2 cm of moist new snow on top. The fresh snow never felt grabby and didn’t slow the skis down, so turns stayed smooth and consistent. The official base depth on the Toomi Slope is 60 cm, and coverage remained excellent with no brush or thin spots anywhere on the run.

Over at the Iimori area, the base depth sits at 40 cm. Currently four runs remain open: Powder Snow, Soft Cream, Maryland, and Sunny Way. The skier’s-left side of the Powder Snow Course (pictured, far left) is closed due to exposed ground. The groomed sections had a firm, spring granular snow surface with about 2 cm of fresh snow on top. Snow coverage was sufficient, with no visible brush, and the surface conditions allowed riders to carry speed with confidence.

Up at Alps Daira, strong, cold north winds drove steady snowfall across the mountain. The Grand Prix and Panorama Courses were freshly groomed with firm granular snow bases topped with 5 to 10 cm of slightly moist new snow. Along the ungroomed area beside the Alps 3rd Pair lift (pictured), 10 to 15 cm of new snow sat on top of a firm base and offered a soft, cushioned feel. The Dynamic and Woody Courses were also freshly groomed with firm granular snow surfaces and about 2 to 3 cm of moist new snow on top.
