Goryu47 REPORT

2026.03.12250cm / Mostly Sunny

The 50th Annual Hakuba Goryu 47 Snow Festival is set to take place the day after tomorrow, 3/14 (Sat.). This year also marks the 55th anniversary of Hakuba Goryu, so the festival lineup has been expanded beyond the usual scale. Today, the morning kicked off under mostly cloudy but calm skies, and radiational cooling kept the air crisp.
[Route 5]

Routes 5 and 6, along with the upper section of Route 1 (pictured), were freshly groomed and held firmly packed snow. Early in the morning, many skiers and snowboarders were lapping the run from the upper section of Route 1 down through Route 6, then riding Line-C back up to repeat the loop. The recent cold spell allowed snowmaking to continue, and signs of snowmaking were visible not only on the lower section of Route 1 but also along Route 6.
[Upper Route 1]

I ran into a couple from Hakuba Village (pictured) who said, “We always read your reports! We have season passes for Goryu 47 and come out almost every day. The weather and snow have both been great yesterday and today—really easy conditions to ski.” The lower section of Route 8 (pictured) was also freshly groomed, with a firm wet snow surface. Meanwhile, crews had begun building the course for the HAKUBA47 BANKED SLALOM event on the skier’s-left side of the upper section of Route 8 ahead of the event on 3/15 (Sun.).
[Lower Route 8]

I met three locals from Hakuba Village first thing in the morning (pictured) who joked, “We always check Snownavi. We’re probably just your backup in case you run short on photos, right? But the snow is looking good today, and the lighting is good too, so maybe we’ll finally make the cut.” The lower section of Route 1 was freshly groomed and covered with fine, granular spring snow.
