Starting 3/16 (Mon.), the spring discount period begins at Happo, with one-day lift tickets priced at JPY5,500 for adults, JPY2,500 for ages 6 to 17, and JPY5,100 for seniors 65 and over. For the time being, 14 lifts—including the gondola—are expected to operate, and the skiable terrain will remain largely unchanged. Meanwhile, a television program featuring the recently held “80th Annual Hakuba Happo-One Riesen Slalom Race” will air on 3/27 (Fri.) on NBS Nagano Broadcasting.

Bright blue skies stretched across the mountain first thing this morning, and temperatures were noticeably warmer than in the past few days. A staff member told me, “With a sunny forecast for the weekend, we’re expecting lots of visitors today—not just skiers, but also people heading into the mountains.” Before operations began, a long line had already formed at the ticket counter at the gondola base station.

The Panorama Course (pictured) had moderately firm groomed wet snow. I opened up some speed on the wide, flat slope and let my skis run. Later, a snowboarder I met commented, “Today’s groomers are one of those ‘too-good-to-be-true’ surfaces—super easy to ride!”

Usagidaira’s South Side Route had groomed fine-grained granular snow, while the run along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) was moderately firm, with groomed wet snow. The central section of the Skyline Course had groomed granular snow, and was also skiing very nicely. Tomorrow, 3/15 (Sun.), HAPPO PARKS will host a snowboard demo event organized by GARAGE902.
