Cortina REPORT

2026.03.15190 cm / Snow Flurries

Light snow flurries were drifting down at the base area this morning. As I headed up top on the No. 4 Pair, I was lifted into a bank of fog, where rime ice clung to the trees and the snowfall quickly intensified. On the Mt. Hieda Forest Course (pictured), the firmly packed corn snow surface ran fast and smooth.

The Itadaira Course started firm up top, transitioned to moderately set corn through the mid section, and softened into looser corn toward the bottom (pictured), similar to the Ikenota Slope. I spoke with a family from Chiba Prefecture along the way, who told me, “We always read your reports! We’ve been staying at Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba since yesterday and are having a great time. We just saw someone on the slopes in a suit—that was the Salaryman Boarder, right?” (Yes, he was out working on the slopes.)

The Ipponmatsu Course was soft from the start, with loosened corn snow across the groomed surface. I met a couple from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), who said, “We always read your reports! We skied in Myoko yesterday and arrived at Cortina early this morning. Snow around Hakuba is definitely getting thinner, but we’re planning to come back again for the long weekend next week.”

On the ungroomed Mt. Hieda Course 1, deep moguls had formed, but the softened corn snow made them manageable and fun to ski. Starting tomorrow, 3/16 (Mon.), spring discounts begin, with one-day lift tickets priced at ¥4,500 for adults and ¥2,500 for elementary school students. Lift operations are scheduled as follows: the No. 6 Pair runs through 3/22 (Sun.), while the No. 1 Pair, No. 2 Quad, No. 3 Quad, and the No. 4 Pair will operate through the final day on 3/30 (Mon.). (※ The No. 5 Pair closed on 3/1).
