TG PARKS opened on the Sawa Course on 1/9 (Fri.) and the One Course on 1/15 (Thu.), and both are still now fully up and running. The lineup of items is extensive, and currently at the very top are a wave feature, a 4 m kicker, a box (pictured), a PVC rail, a 5 m down rail, a 6 m rail, and a double down rail. Continuing on the Sawa Course, there are a 5 m kicker, a 7 m kicker, a 6 m rail, a 7 m down rail, three 3 m kickers in a row, and a 5 m rail. Finally, the One Course features a 6 m rail, a 16 m kicker, a 14 m kicker, a knoll, and an OAKLEY logo rail.

Big airs were being thrown down off the 16 m and 14 m kickers on the One Course today (pictured). Meanwhile, lines were forming at the start of the more approachable 5 m and 7 m kickers on the Sawa Course. Just beyond them, the triple set of 3 m kickers was even more popular, and a steady flow of riders kept dropping in.

I happened to run into Azumi Nakano (pictured), who has served as a forerunner at “COWDAY” for three consecutive years. Her mother told me, “She’s currently part of RIDER WORKS, the same team as Kira Kimura, the Milano-Cortina Olympic gold medalist. She just graduated from elementary school yesterday, and after the ceremony she was riding the advanced lane in her hakama gown.”

Clouds gradually moved in after a clear start to the morning, and by around 11:00 a.m. the sky had turned overcast like you see here. The Han-no-ki Slope had softened into loose, groomed granular conditions. My skis still ran well, but in areas where the snow had piled up, it was harder to execute clean turns.
