Happo-one REPORT

2025.05.01270 cm / Sunny

Today marked the second consecutive day of clear blue skies. With temperatures warmer this morning than the same time yesterday, I wore just a long-sleeve T-shirt under my jacket, but even that felt too hot. Along the Kurobishi 3 Pair (pictured), a mix of large and small soft granular snow moguls provided just the right amount of cushion, making it an inviting challenge.

A skier from Gifu Prefecture (pictured), whom I ran into several times this season, greeted me saying, “I always check your reports! Today’s my last day skiing at Happo, so please take a photo for me!” I also met a lot of other people on the slopes today who told me they were fans of Snownavi.

On the Panorama Course, the thick surface layer of soft spring corn snow made it a bit difficult for my skis to glide smoothly right from the start of the day. The exposed patch of ground toward the end of the run (as shown in the second photo from our report two days ago) had also spread even larger today. On the groomed areas beside the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) and the south-side route of Usagidaira, the slightly soft corn snow base allowed for smooth and fast skiing.

The Riesen Grat Course was covered with Irregular moguls, and I overheard skiers exclaiming things like “Whoa, that was a close one!” and “This is tough!” I ran into a skier from Aichi (pictured) who commented, “I always read your reports! Today’s my last day of the season… but with so much snow still left, it’s hard to say goodbye.” They also asked, “How long will the slope reports continue?” As a matter of fact, the Happo slope reports for this winter season are scheduled to run through 5/5 (Mon., holiday).
