HAKUBA OTHER REPORT

2026.06.29Hakuba Station-Area Shopping, Pt. 1 / Cloudy

Today, I met up with Hinano Oshima (pictured) for a shopping trip around Hakuba Station! When it comes specifically to finding high-quality ski and snowboard gear (※October to March) and mountaineering equipment (※April to September), the area around Hakuba Station is among the best-stocked in Japan. After parking at Snow Peak LAND STATION HAKUBA (pictured), our first stop was HAKUBA ORIGINAL to check out their latest shirts and caps.

Hinano told me, “Thanks again for all your support this winter! Today I’m wearing my favorite HAKUBA ORIGINAL T-shirt and cap (first photo). I really like this combination, too,” she said, referring to another outfit she had just tried on (pictured). On 6/27 (Sat.), the weather alternated between rain and sunshine as Typhoons No. 7 and No. 8 passed through the region.

After browsing Snow Peak’s camping gear and apparel, we walked about ten minutes to Hakuba Yamatoya at the eastern end of the shopping area (※just a one-minute walk from Hakuba Station). Hakuba Yamatoya is a dependable shop with an excellent selection of high-end gear for experienced outdoor enthusiasts, both in summer and winter, backed by knowledgeable staff. At this time of year, the focus is on mountaineering equipment such as hiking boots and backpacks, along with outdoor apparel—although there were also some skis on sale.

“So, what do you think? Does it suit me? There are so many different shirts to choose from—I can’t decide!” said Hinano (pictured). The special CHUMS × Hakuba collaboration T-shirts (※¥4,950 including tax, available in six colors) feature a small logo on the front and a large back print showcasing the Hakuba Sanzan peaks, CHUMS’ Booby Bird mascot, and other Hakuba-inspired designs. (To be continued in Hakuba Station-Area Shopping, Pt. 2.)
