HAKUBA OTHER REPORT

2026.07.08Hakuba Station-Area Shopping, Pt. 2 / Sunny

Walk about three minutes west along the main street from Hakuba Yamatoya and you’ll come to the Patagonia Hakuba/Outlet shop, one of Patagonia’s largest company-owned stores. Alongside an extensive selection of both current-season and outlet products, the store offers the added benefit of expert advice from staff intimately familiar with Hakuba’s mountains. I spoke with a staff member, who commented, “Show us your Snownavi digital coupon when you visit and you can choose a free sticker. We hope people will take advantage of this offer.”

Another two minutes west along the main street brings you to the large North Face flagship store, THE NORTH FACE GRAVITY HAKUBA. Incidentally, Hakuba Station’s main street—officially the Hakubadake Prefectural Road—was given the nickname “Hakuba-dori” when the utility lines were moved underground. The bright, spacious store also carries exclusive “HAKUBA” merchandise available nowhere else.

Hinano, naturally, headed straight for the shelves with exclusive “HAKUBA” merchandise. One T-shirt she was interested in was available in two different fabrics: a 73% polyester and 27% cotton blend, or 100% cotton. (※This time, she had her eye on a white T-shirt.) A staff member told us, “Our 30% off sale began on 6/19 (Fri.) and will continue while stocks last. We have an especially wide selection of sale items this year.”

Continue west for another 23 minutes and you’ll reach Montbell Room Hakuba Happo on the second floor of the Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal. (It is around 4 to 5 minutes by car.) “Please feel free to stop by on your way back from trekking or other outdoor activities,” said a staff member. “Our original Hakuba Happo T-shirts, available in unisex and children’s sizes, as well as our 500 ml clear bottles make excellent souvenirs.” Kojitsu Sanso Hakuba is located directly across the road from The North Face as well. And with that, this year’s “Furusato Nozei Report Series” has officially begun once again!
*Hakuba is also home to Kurikuri Club, which sells carefully crafted cheesecakes made entirely to order. These rare sweets can be picked up by advance reservation, shipped nationwide, or received as a furusato nozei gift.
*If you would like to receive Hakuba sweets through the furusato nozei program, applications can be made through Furusato Choice.
Furusato nozei is a system that allows people to donate to their hometown or to municipalities they wish to support. In return, donors can receive gifts worth roughly 30% of the donation amount, while also benefiting from reductions in resident tax deductions and income tax refunds.
